PROJECT OVERVIEW

Emelie Hernandez came to me to create the logo and packaging for her new energy bar, but the more we talked and explored other avenues I knew it was more than presented, so I brought in Zahra Cruzan. I wanted to bring in someone with amazing qualifications for getting food products off the ground and Zahra fit the bill. We worked together to create a bar fit for real athletes with a brand promise of sustainability, convenience, and most importantly flavor-forward taste.

IDENTITY

Redpoint is a high caloric meal made to give the driving edge for real athletes competing in competition for hours and even days on end. The idea is to create the smallest meal with highly sustainable, organic products without the sugar and crash of a normal protein bar. Emelie also knew she needed to have a product that would not be a meal replacement, but instead a true meal in a bite size form.

We wanted everything about the product to be about surviving and thriving in the most extreme conditions. The vision is to exist in a world where humans are properly nourished while respecting mother earth. We wanted to tie the two worlds of extreme sports with the elements of existing peacefully.

DESIGN

The design was a challenge because we were looking of combining two different worlds; The extreme sports with hippie life style. In the midst of that we are creating a national product, so the reach was tremendous right from the start. Emelie had offers from several gyms and REI, so we knew we did not have much time to test to get the design right. We chose to do earth tones and really pop a muted red throughout the entire project to tie the two worlds together. We used striking photography of mountain climbers to extend the level of consistency to nature and the fatigue of extreme sports. Making sure both parties were represented was our main focus of this project.

The logo was created to harness the mountain climbing culture that existed before the creation of the bar. We wanted to make this logo iconic and stand strong no matter the crazy backgrounds we might chose to showcase it on hence the logo within a square. The square also represented the harsh conditions these athletes put themselves through to achieve a high success.
